REP. PETERS ON POLAND'S NATIONAL TRAGEDY

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Gary Peters issued the following
statement after the untimely and unexpected death of Polish President
Lech Kaczynsk and dozens of other national leaders:

"The entire world is still in shock over the tragic death of Polish
President Lech Kaczynsk and the dozens of other Polish leaders who
perished in this unspeakable tragedy. The thoughts and prayers of all
Americans are with the Polish people during their time of immeasurable
grief and national mourning. However, Poland is a nation that has
overcome much adversity throughout its history, and it will persevere."

They died in a rush to pay honor to those who lost their lives in Katyń.  President Kaczyński, his wife the First Lady of Poland, Members of Parliament, Military Officials, Clergy; brilliant people, all daughters and sons of the Polish nation now passed onto eternal guard.  We Poles living outside our motherland are immersed in deep mourning together with the entire nation.
