Thanks to Pawel Pietrzyk and the National Archives of Poland

Mr. Pawel Pietrzyk is the Senior Archivist at the National Archives of Poland in Lodz, and he visited Orchard Lake for an extended stay to evaluate our archives and lead development of new processes that will allow us to better serve our researchers.  During his time here Pawel worked with Fr. Flis to repair and enhance our current archives system, in preparation for a formal report that will be delivered to the National Archives.  Based on that report, our candidacy for support from the Polish government will be greatly enhanced.  Based on his experiences here, we’re anxious to report good news to our community here over the next few months.

“The collections here are extremely unique,” says Pawel.  He continued, “There are no other archives like the one at The Polish Mission.  It is extremely important to preserve and organize them, so researchers may have access to the valuable information they contain.”  Pawel was our guest until mid-July, when he completed his evaluation.  During his stay here, Pawel was a delightful addition to our Orchard Lake community, regularly seen in the Ark building hard at work behind a computer, or sporting white gloves going through documents with Fr. Flis.

Thanks so much for everything Pawel — we’re excited and happy to continue cooperation with the National Archives in the future.  Click here for photos!
